Silhouette Photography

To create silhouettes in your photographs it all depends on the light in the photograph, A silhouette defines as an outline that appears dark against a light background, meaning where your subject is seen as a black shape with no detail against a bright and detailed background for example a person standing at a brightly lit window with the lighting coming through making the person completly black. to create this effect use any bright light source but the most common one used is obviously the sun. However the important thing is to focus on when taken these photographs is not to point the camera directly at the sun otherwise there will be too much light and ultimatly the subject your focusing on is also going to be and have detail. So the best time to take these types of photographs is in the afternoon, evening and dawn when the sun is setting and rising.
